Shawna Kleban

Fellowship Trained Plastic Surgeon

Shawna R. Kleban, MD

“When you come in for a consultation, I want you to feel understood and confident that I can help you become the best version of yourself.”

Dr. Shawna Kleban is a fellowship-trained board-eligible plastic surgeon specializing in aesthetic treatments of the face, breast, and body.

Dr. Kleban’s training has taken her from coast to coast and back again. Originally from Arizona, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Dr. Kleban attended the University of Virginia School of Medicine and was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

“I appreciate the trust it takes to move forward with plastic surgery and I take that responsibility seriously.”

Her studies then took her to Las Vegas  where she  completed her Plastic  Surgery Residency. Dr. Kleban’s six-year residency training not only included aesthetic surgery, but also included complex breast reconstruction, facial trauma and reconstruction, microsurgery, pediatric plastic surgery, burn surgery, and hand surgery. During her time in Las Vegas, she was recognized as an exemplary mentor, teacher, scholar, and surgeon. In her final year she rose to the level of Chief Resident.

Always wanting the best for her patients, Dr. Kleban elected to spend an additional year of training dedicated solely to the practice of aesthetic surgery. This decision brought Dr. Kleban to North Carolina and through the doors of HKB Cosmetic Surgery. Under the expert guidance of Drs. Hunstad, Kortesis and Bharti, Dr. Kleban honed her surgical skills and found a place where she felt at home. She believes the doctors, nurses, and staff at HKB are the best in the industry and is grateful to be a part of this exceptional team.

“My main objective is to have you leave with a smile on your face and know that I will be there with you throughout your entire journey.”

Dr. Kleban believes furthering the field of plastic surgery is of great value. Attending and presenting at regional and national conferences allows Dr. Kleban to share her experience and knowledge and continue to improve her craft. She has published multiple peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in the field of plastic surgery. She enjoys teaching the HKB aesthetic fellows and visiting residents from Wake Forest and UNC. As a female surgeon, she enjoys mentoring and learning from other women in her field.

The daughter of a veterinarian and therapist, Dr. Kleban combines her surgical skills with empathy and compassion. She believes that each patient is unique and enjoys partnering with patients to help them achieve their own ideal of beauty.

Within moments of meeting Dr. Kleban you will feel at ease with her warmth and upbeat energy. She takes the time to get to know you and help you understand what options are right for you. Dr. Kleban is committed to guiding you through your plastic surgery journey from beginning to end.

In her spare time, she enjoys drawing/painting, live music, yoga, downhill skiing, and international travel. She is excited to explore all that Charlotte and Huntersville have to offer with her fiancée and her two dogs.

The Surgeon Artist

“I feel honored to be a plastic surgeon and am excited to go to work every day! I love being able to combine my artistic side with my passion for surgery to help my patients.”

From a young age, Dr. Kleban excelled in artistic endeavors and pursued these as a hobby throughout her childhood and into adulthood. A majority of her art has focused on representing the human form through drawing and painting. She believes that studying art helps improve her surgical results by studying the human form through an artistic lens.
