Cool Peel CO2 Laser
Over time, the skin loses its elasticity; that’s why you may notice more and more wrinkles and fine lines on your face as you age. There are a number of cosmetic procedures that can minimize these age markers, but few work as effectively as the Cool Peel CO2 laser. This advanced laser technology provides a non-invasive way to eliminate not only wrinkles, but also acne scars, age spots, and other blemishes.
The problem with traditional CO2 laser treatments is that they can be quite aggressive. Traditionally, these deep penetrating treatments have come with considerable downtime and recovery. However, a new generation of CO2 laser resurfacing has arrived with the Tetra Cool Peel CO2 laser – finally, this laser offers a chance to get the toned, wrinkle-free skin you’ve always wanted without a long downtime or extended post-procedure recovery.
We’re proud to provide CoolPeel CO2 laser treatments at H/K/B Cosmetic Surgery in Charlotte, NC. If you have any questions about the procedure, contact us to set up a consultation to explore your options. In the meantime, here’s a brief overview of how the procedure works.
What is Cool Peel CO2 Laser and How Does it Work?
The Tetra CoolPeel represents a refinement of CO2 laser resurfacing technology. Using patented Cool Peel technology, your H/K/B provider can target the superficial layer of skin tissue, removing damaged outer layers of skin to reveal the healthier, clearer, and more youthful layer of skin below.
Cool Peel CO2 laser technology is safe, comfortable, and effective; it’s a procedure that we can offer in our office without the need for invasive surgery and without the need for much downtime. As such, it’s become a very popular option among men and women who are looking to restore a brighter, clearer, younger countenance.

What is the Cool Peel Difference?
CO2 laser technology isn’t necessarily new. Different iterations of this technology have been available over the years, and they have offered varying degrees of effectiveness. One of the big concerns about CO2 treatments has been that they are accompanied by prolonged downtime; and during that downtime, there has been considerable risk of long-term damage to the skin.
The Cool Peel method changes all that. Thanks to significant improvements to CO2 laser technology, the risk of side effects has diminished substantially, along with the need for a long recovery. In fact, Cool Peel is the only CO2 laser technology that can offer a fractional ablative approach without downtime, and without a significant risk of infection, hyperpigmentation, or demarcation.
These improvements are all thanks to the Tetra laser, which enables Cool Peel treatments to have an unparalleled level of control. Specifically, the Tetra laser ensures that the output of high energy is delivered in short bursts, not exposing the skin to any lingering heat.
In the absence of this heat, Cool Peel is able to provide immediate and lasting results with just minimal risk of skin damage. If you have any additional questions about the Cool Peel difference, contact H/K/B Cosmetic Surgery at your next opportunity.
Am I a Candidate?
Are you eligible for a Cool Peel CO2 laser treatment? Generally, we recommend this treatment for anyone who is looking to do the following:
- Minimize the visibility of wrinkles and fine lines on the face.
- Reduce the appearance of sun-damaged spots.
- Minimize the size of pores.
- Reduce the overall look and texture of the skin.
- Achieve an all-over glow plus a younger and healthier appearance.
If you have any skin conditions or medical issues that might impede you from properly healing, you might not be a good candidate for Cool Peel; during your consultation at H/K/B, we’ll ask you more about your medical history to ensure you’re qualified for a safe and successful treatment.
What are the Side Effects of the Cool Peel Laser?
While Cool Peel minimizes most of the risks traditionally associated with CO2 laser treatments, there is one significant side effect worth noting: For patients with olive or brown skin, there is a heightened risk of either hypopigmentation or hyperpigmentation. This is true for most laser skin treatments when it comes to darker skin tones. For these patients, we will perform a test treatment to the skin in an inconspicuous location to ensure that your results will be optimal.
Also be aware that, for those who have a history of cold sores or human papillomavirus, there is a risk that the energy from the laser could trigger an outbreak of sores. Ask your provider for an antiviral prescription you can use in advance to inoculate against breakouts.
Additional Questions About Cool Peel CO2 Laser
While there may be some very minor discomfort, we’ll apply topical numbing creams to keep you out of pain. There is no need for anesthesia when getting a Cool Peel treatment.
