Breast sagging: if you don’t have it now, odds are, it’s coming. The effects of gravity are particularly damaging to the breast tissue and over time, most breasts will begin to sag. Genetics, pregnancy, aging, and other factors contribute as well. If you’ve got sagging, a breast lift may be just what you need.
What Is a Breast Lift?
A breast lift is a gravity defying surgical procedure that can reverse breast sagging and restore your breasts to their former, perky glory. The procedure can be performed on its own or can be paired with breast augmentation if you also want to increase your breast size.
The surgery takes about 1 ½ to 3 hours and is performed under either general anesthesia or IV sedation with local anesthetic. Your surgery will be custom tailored to your specific breast needs. We have several incisions options available and will choose the incision, or combination of incisions, that will provide the best aesthetic results. Excess skin is removed, the remaining tissue is reshaped, and the areola and nipple are placed higher on the breast. The areola may be resized and reshaped if needed. Liposuction is sometimes used to help perfect the breast shape. While incisions are needed to create the newly shaped and lifted breast, skillful work is done by our surgeons to ensure scarring is kept to a minimum.
Most patients take 1-2 weeks off from work to recover. Avoid heavy lifting and strenuous activities for several weeks.
Do I Need a Breast Lift?
One of the best ways to determine if you need a breast lift is to come in for a consultation and to discuss your options. We use Vectra 3D imaging to show many breast lift patients what their results will look like after surgery, before the procedure is ever scheduled. This can help you to make an informed decision about your procedure. In some cases breast measurements performed at home can give you an idea of whether or not you need a breast lift.
