No one wants “wings” under the upper arms
An exciting procedure that improves the shape and contour of the arms

An arm lift surgery or brachioplasty is an exciting procedure that dramatically improves the shape and contour of the arms.

No one wants “wings” under the upper arms. Particularly for women, skin laxity on the arms is a distressing part of the aging process, causing them to hide their arms under long sleeves even when the weather is hot. For people of both sexes who lose a substantial amount of weight, this sagging skin can be embarrassing and unsightly.

It is often performed on people after massive weight loss or bariatric surgery but is also effective on anyone who feels their upper arms have become uncomfortably flaccid.

H/K/B Surgeons have provided successful arm lift surgeries for many patients, making it possible for them to wear sleeveless and short-sleeved shirts once again with scars hidden under the arms.

What can an arm lift surgery do for me?

An arm lift can restore a trim, taut, youthful contour to the upper arms. While sagging of the skin of the upper arm can recur as part of the natural aging process or in the event of significant weight loss, the results of an upper arm lift are long lasting.

The recovery time from an arm lift surgery is 1-2 weeks, and strenuous activity should be avoided for 4-6 weeks. We recommend Ace bandage wraps be worn for 24 hours and to keep arms elevated to reduce swelling.

You can expect some bruising, soreness, and swelling after your surgery, but these symptoms can be reduced with pain medication and ice packs.

Of course, we will monitor your progress and answer any questions you have while you heal.

What can I expect during an arm lift?

An arm lift can usually be performed on an outpatient basis using anesthesia or a local anesthetic and sedation at our fully accredited surgical facilities, where our highly qualified nurses will pamper you. Our nurses are certified in advanced cardiac life support, which ensures the highest level of supervision, evaluation, and care in the unlikely event of an emergency.

An arm lift surgery can be completed in about 3 hours depending on the amount of tissue to be removed and the overall length of the incision. The incisions run on the under-side of the arms where scars can be seen only if the arms are lifted. Liposuction is used to remove any excess fat and excess skin is trimmed.

Dissolvable sutures are used to close the incisions so that no stitches have to be removed. These sutures also minimize scarring.
