The last thing anyone wants is to endure the expense and recovery period of plastic surgery … only to be disappointed with the results. At H/K/B, we perform a large volume of revision procedures for our patients. These are secondary surgeries that correct issues that have developed from previous surgeries.
These procedures can be complex, and they require a great deal of experience and expertise on the part of your surgeon. We have worked on many very challenging cases, and we are accustomed to resolving these kinds of problems, including the removal of substantial scarring from previous procedures.
While we can perform a revision of most any of the surgeries we offer, the majority of our revision cases are the ones mentioned below.
Breast Augmentation Revision
The most common revision procedure we do is Breast Augmentation Revision – a procedure to correct a poor breast implant result. With the help of our skilled physicians, you will finally look the way you wanted.
Some women are dissatisfied with the size or shape of their original breast implants. In these cases, we replace the implants with a smaller or larger size and/or different shape. This problem is unlikely to happen with Vectra 3D Imaging, which we can use to better ensure that you choose the size and shape of implant you want. With these images, you will be able to see exactly how you will look after your revision surgery.
Sometimes, a revision is needed because the patient has suffered a capsular contracture of the implant, which requires that we replace the implants and remove scar tissue. If your breasts look unnatural or undesirable due to subglandular placement of the implants, we can convert the placement to a submuscular position for a more natural look. We can also correct mismatched breasts either in terms of size or placement (one higher than the other).
Breast Lift Revision
If you are unhappy with the amount of lift you received from a prior Breast Lift, or if your areolas are misshapen or your breasts mismatched, we can provide a Breast Lift revision to restore a symmetrical and attractive appearance to your breasts.
When we perform a rhinoplasty revision, our goal is to restore both form and function so that your nose looks better, and you breathe better as well, if necessary. In some cases, cartilage grafting is required in order to repair the nose. If there is not enough cartilage within the nose, it can be harvested from the ear or the ribs.
If you expected to look younger after your Facelift than you do, or you have experienced sagging soon after your Facelift, let us evaluate you for a possible Facelift Revision. Sometimes patients will have continued sagging of tissue and wrinkles. This can be improved with a revision facelift.
You might feel that your face looks too “tight” after your facelift. While this is more difficult to correct, we are happy to devise a surgical plan to improve your post-facelift appearance. Maybe you had your facelift 10-12 years ago and are ready for another one. Whatever the reason, our doctors are expert facelift surgeons who can evaluate the problem and devise an effective surgical plan to correct it.
An Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty) – whether on the upper or lower eyelids or both – is a delicate procedure. If your original eyelid lift did not provide enough of a correction of the signs of aging, leaving you with sagging lids or bags under the eyes, we can perform a Blepharoplasty Revision. We can also create better symmetry between the left and right eyelids if you were left with mismatched results.
Forehead/Brow Lift Revision
Like a facelift or eyelid lift, the primary reason for a Forehead/Brow Lift Revision is under-correction from the first surgery. If you have had a forehead/brow lift but still have forehead lines or drooping of the brows, we can help you achieve the results you hoped for. You might also find that your brows are no longer even after your first surgery. This condition can also be corrected or improved in a secondary surgery.
Tummy Tuck Revision
At H/K/B, abdominoplasty revision surgery has proven to be a very gratifying procedure for both surgeon and patient. Often, the problem with the first Tummy Tuck was that little or no concurrent liposuction was performed, leaving thickness of fat much greater than desired. Muscle tightening is often neglected – a process that is vital to achieve a flat, tight abdomen, as well as a marked improvement in the waistline. Our surgeons also frequently remove significant scarring from the first procedure when they perform tummy tuck revisions, and we can use a laser technique to alleviate stretch marks.
If you have a particular concern about your appearance but are unsure which procedure might improve it, call us for a consultation.
