What to Expect from Your Rhinoplasty Consultation

The first step toward rhinoplasty is the personalized patient consultation. Call our offices and schedule yours. During your consultation you’ll have the opportunity to discuss rhinoplasty, with a focus on specifics for your situation. We’ll perform a careful examination, make treatment recommendations, and answer any questions you may have. We can also give you specific information about the cost of your procedure and the results you can expect to achieve.

If you’re thinking about rhinoplasty, a consultation is an invaluable resource. It can help you determine if you’re a good candidate, give you a better idea of the results to expect, and help you prepare for your surgery.

Dr. Bharti says: “Rhinoplasty is a very delicate surgery to refine your basal features. Careful planning involving in-depth discussion and simulation are important to identify the proper steps to be taken during your surgery to obtain the nose you desire.”

What to Expect from Your Rhinoplasty Surgery

On the day of your rhinoplasty surgery you’ll need someone to drop you off. Time spent in surgery can vary substantially; we’ll give you a better idea of what to expect during your consultation and pre-operative appointments.

We’ll perform either open or closed rhinoplasty, depending on your specific situation. During open rhinoplasty an incision is made on the columella, the strip of tissue that separates the nostrils. All incisions are made inside of the nose in a closed rhinoplasty. The open technique is most commonly used, as it gives us additional access to the cartilage and bone components from top to tip. Most patients have little to no visible scarring, even with closed rhinoplasty, as the scars fade substantially in the first few weeks after surgery.

During the surgery we’ll use advanced rhinoplasty techniques to shape, sculpt, and transform the nose. Each surgery is different, depending on your unique needs. After your surgery your nose will be placed in a splint and you’ll be sent home for recovery. You’ll need someone to drive you and help you during the initial hours after surgery.

What to Expect During Rhinoplasty Recovery

Many of our patients are surprised by how quickly the nose heals after rhinoplasty. Swelling is common after rhinoplasty and can remain for about six months. You should be able to see the new shape of your nose as soon as the splint is removed, even though swelling will remain, about five days after surgery. Temporary tip numbness is also common. We’ll provide pain killers to ease any discomfort you may experience during recovery.
