facial treatment to remove sun damageIf hot cocoa and cute scarves are your favorite parts of winter, you’re missing out on a special opportunity to perfect your skin. Winter is actually one of the best times to treat sun damage with facial treatment to remove sun damage. Less time in the sun means better results from many facial treatments, especially those that are designed to treat pigmentation problems.

Facial Treatment to Remove Sun Damage

This winter, come into H/K/B Cosmetic Surgery + MedSpa to give your skin a little extra TLC. We are proud to provide our patients with a range of options for looking and feeling their best. These facial treatments to treat sun damage are ideal for fighting sun damage and perfecting your skin.

IPL

If you’ve got sun damage, few treatments can compare with the results you’ll see from IPL. This treatment uses intense light to fade brown spots, sun spots, age spots, rosacea redness, broken capillaries, and more. IPL evens out skin tone and improves the appearance of your skin.

IPL treatments require no downtime and do not damage the skin. We focus on providing the best possible results utilizing the latest technologies and facial treatments to remove sun damage.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning removes the outermost layers of skin using a surgical blade. Only specially trained estheticians such as ours perform this procedure to ensure great results and safety. Dead skin cells and damaged skin are removed. An added benefit of dermaplaning is the removal of any peach fuzz or light facial hair for a flawlessly smooth appearance. Results are immediate and recovery is minimal. Dermaplaning doesn’t use any harsh chemicals—just manual exfoliation.

Dermaplaning is an excellent complement to other facial procedures since it allows treatments to penetrate more deeply. Our Dermaplaning Facial combines a dermaplaning treatment with a soothing gel mask, serums, and sunscreen. It is an excellent facial treatment to remove sun damage and sensitive skin as well as patients using acne medications.

Peels

Peel away sun damage and discover smoother, brighter skin. The H/K/B Cosmetic Surgery + MedSpa Signature Peel is a great treatment for photo-aged skin. It can fade pigmentation problems, decrease surface roughness and oil production, and smooth fine lines. It can be used on any skin tone.

We typically recommend an initial series of 3 peels that are spaced over 2-3 months in order to achieve the best results. Start now and your gorgeous new skin will be ready in time for spring.

What to Do After Getting a Facial Treatment to Remove Sun Damage

Following your facial, it is important to take a few simple actions to protect your skin; this not only helps minimize any discomfort as you heal, but it also helps optimize your results.

We’ve already hinted at one of the big steps you should take post-facial treatment to remove sun damage, and that’s avoiding sustained exposure to the sun. This is one of the main reasons why winter is an ideal time for getting this kind of treatment. And if you do happen to find yourself in the sun, make sure you protect your face as much as possible, using a scarf or a wide-brimmed hat as well as a gentle sunscreen.

In addition, here are some recommendations for self-care following a facial:

  • Avoid picking at your skin (no matter how tempting it may be).
  • Stay away from makeup and skincare products, other than the ones your facial provider recommended.
  • Wash your face but be gentle when you do so.
  • Go at least a few days without applying toner.
  • Skip out on the sauna and other steam treatments for a day or two.
  • Postpone your workout; give yourself at least a day before working up a sweat.

These are just a few ways in which you can get the most out of your facial. For more specific instructions, don’t hesitate to contact one of our providers here at H/K/B.

Additional Tips for Timing Your Facial Treatment to Remove Sun Damage

Getting your facial during wintertime is recommended, but there are a few other tips we’d offer to anyone looking to time their facial just right.

Don’t Get it Right Before Your Big Event

We know how tempting it might be to schedule a facial for the day before your wedding or high school reunion. Something to keep in mind, however, is that a facial is likely going to make your skin look worse before it looks better. So by timing your facial right before the big event, you’re increasing your odds of showing up with skin that’s red, blotchy, or irritated. Instead of scheduling your facial the day before your big event, try scheduling about a week in advance.

Don’t Get a Facial on the Same Day You Get Waxed…

We know, we know… by scheduling a facial and a waxing for the same day, you can really maximize your spa experience. But keep in mind that most facials include deep exfoliation, and when you combine that with waxing, it can lead to significant irritation of the skin. We really hate to rain on the party, but we really think you’ll be more comfortable (and get better results) if you split your spa day in two (and maybe even allow a week or so in between them).

… and Don’t Get it Before a Massage, Either.

We would also recommend against getting a facial just before you get a massage. A traditional massage is usually going to involve you lying on your stomach for a while, and pressing your face in a downward position may be a little uncomfortable following that deep exfoliation. Again, for your comfort and for optimal results, we’d probably recommend planning the facial and the massage for different days.
